New residential properties constructed from timber or light weight steel throughout the UK are required by the NHBC to have a cavity rail system and an external wall insulation system applied.
The NHBC rules are for a minimum clear drained cavity of 15mm between the insulation board and the sheathing board of the structure.
The cavity allows for any trapped moisture to drain out through the slotted base rail and is an economic solution to providing a drained cavity system to comply with NHBC and other regulatory requirements.
The external envelope can be completed in almost any weather, quickly and without the mess and hassle associated with laying concrete blocks, improving the thermal performance of the building and providing a durable and exciting finish.
